The Brides are another powerhouse female group out of the P-Funk Mob of the 70s, and a group who are more funk-based than Parlet. The title track is a seriously bad tune and "Party Up In Here" is party funk at its finest. The bassline from "Smoke Signals" has been sampled by UGK. Vocals are by the duo of Lyn Mabry and Dawn Silva – but the main sound of the set comes from the tightly crafted rhythms served up by a cast of well-known P-Funk regulars. Side A is VG+, Side B has LM and a bit of surface noise. SC, SW.
