Due to a high demand and inquiry for our collage workshop Cut & Paste we are happy to announce another session March 21st.

As a small business and shop, we are now offering a sliding scale of $10-20 to attend this workshop. Proceeds go towards supplies, materials, shop upkeep, and supporting our resident artist/curator.

<< if you've missed registration for this session, please join the wait-list HERE >>

Cut and Paste welcomes the patrons of Miyagi to join us for an evening of creating collages on vinyl or in reimagining an existing album cover. With provided supplies and saved inventory, participants will have the opportunity to crafting and giving new life behind beloved material.

Cut and Paste is inspired by artists such as Tomotatsu Gima, Marcus Dawson and Walter Lobyn Hamilton. Materials will be provided by the shop and guests are welcome to take their creations home. All ages and skill levels are welcome ✂️🔖🎶

====

Cut and Paste is created and hosted by Kee Merriweather, a Chicago born and raised artist. Kee’s work explores the duality of collage and archives through printed matter, literature, research, pedagogy and archiving. Their work explores a range of themes within and beyond Black nostalgia, popular culture, and intersections of race, gender and class.

SCHEDULE
This workshop happens on March 21st, 2024 from 4-7pm

PRICING

These classes are being offered on a sliding scale. The top tier price ($20) class ticket is the actual cost of the class. If you choose a ticket price below the top tier you are receiving a discount. The basic tier price ($10) is for those who have difficulty meeting basic needs* and paying for this class would be a hardship.

Please be mindful that if you purchase a price at the lowest tier when you can truthfully afford the higher ticket prices, you are limiting access to those who need the gift of financial flexibility. Being honest with yourself and your financial situation when engaging with sliding scale practices grows strong and sustainable communities. It also respects the work of teachers and creators. THANKS FOR BEING PART OF AN EFFORT TO ADDRESS INEQUITY AND INEQUALITY IN OUR COMMUNITY!

(*BASIC NEEDS = food, housing, transportation, healthcare)
