WEEKLY EVENTS @ MIYAGI
tune in and unwind!

Dig + Disconnect | Every Friday 4-7pm
Unwind With Intention
Dig + Disconnect is Miyagi’s weekly Friday gathering meant for getting back to the point: slow listening, real-world skill-building, and community time. Rotating throughout each month we host Open Decks (D+D Edition) — a welcoming, low-pressure session where DJs and learners can practice transitions, try new blends, and build confidence on the decks (with other heads in the room, not a spotlight). You’ll also catch guest takeovers from local selectors, DJs, and community partners — special nights that bring fresh sounds, stories, and different ways of listening into the room. D+D is for crate-diggers, curious beginners, and seasoned heads alike..

Selector Saturdays | Every Sat 3-5pm
Live DJ Performances
Selector Saturdays is where we hand the turntables to a guest selector and let them stretch out — no requests, no pressure, no play the hits. In clubs and bars you usually get a version of a DJ built for the room. Here, you get the full range: the records they collect, study, and truly love. This program often features Miyagi Education grads stepping into the booth, sharing what they’ve been building, and going deep in their own voice — alongside seasoned local DJs and community partners. It’s a space for selectors to tell a story, and a space for listeners to slow down and take it in.

Art of the Dig
Learn how to find what moves you
Introducing Art of the Dig — a new hands-on workshop from Miyagi Education built around learning how to find what moves you. This is for curious listeners, newer collectors, future DJs, and anyone who has ever felt overwhelmed staring at a wall of records. Across the session, we’ll slow down and work through the process of digging with more intention: reading covers, labels, credits, condition, and context; listening closely; comparing what we expected to what we actually hear; and building a small stack that reflects your own taste and curiosity.

Intro to DJing
presented by Miyagi Education
Curious about DJing but not sure where to start? This beginner-level workshop is an entry point into the fundamentals of DJing and our larger Miyagi Education curriculum.Participants will get hands-on time with vinyl and digital DJ equipment while learning the basics of cueing, mixing, listening with intention, and understanding how DJs move through sound. No prior experience is required. This session is designed for anyone interested in taking a first step into the craft in a welcoming, low-pressure setting.

In-Store w/ Candice Hoyes
performance, signing, q+a
We're excited to host vocalist Candice Hoyes for an in-store event later this month! Join us on Saturday, September 26 from 5-7pm for a short performance from her new album "Expecting," followed by an artist conversation, Q&A, album signing, and meet and greet. Candice's work blends jazz, classical, and folk traditions into something entirely her own, and Expecting is one of the most compelling releases we've spun in the shop this year. This is a rare chance to hear the songs live and hear directly from the artist about the stories behind them. If you're in town for Hyde Park Jazz Fest, this is a perfect stop to add to your day — come support live music and meet the artist behind the record.
