Spring 02 Session D
DJ 101 is the foundation of Miyagi Education—our beginner-level entry into the craft, culture, and community of DJing. Each 6-week run offers four schedule options so you can pick the days that fit your life.
Whether you’re brand new or tightening up your basics, this course gives you real skills, hands-on time with gear, and a supportive community to grow with.
Spring 02 Session D Weekly Schedule
Both 101 courses each session teach the exact same curriculum:

Wednesdays 4:30–6:30pm
Sundays 5-7pm

What You’ll Learn
Over 6 weeks, you'll build a true foundation in:

Song structure, BPM/tempo, and how DJs read energy

Beat-matching and manual mixing
-
Vinyl fundamentals: turntables, needles, mixers

Digital fundamentals: controllers, Serato, workflow basics

EQ and frequency control
-
Transition techniques and phrasing
-
Set curation + developing your taste as a selector
By the end, you’ll have the core skills to start your DJ journey with confidence.
Course Format

Length: 6 weeks / 10 classes

Cohort Size: Small, intimate groups for real hands-on time

Instructors: One lead instructor + one assistant, both seasoned professional DJs

Graduation: A public performance at Miyagi during our weekly Saturday programming
Your graduation set is your first real chance to step into the booth and share your sound.

Pricing — 2026 Model (Sustainer • Community • Scholarship)
Each cohort offers 5 total seats, priced to sustain the program while keeping access open:

3 × Sustainer Seats — $400 each
Supports the true cost of the course and helps keep Community + Scholarship seats available. -
1 × Community Seat — $350
For students who can meet basic needs but benefit from reduced tuition. -
1 × Scholarship Seat — $325
Reserved for students for whom full tuition would be a hardship.
